Results:

Charles Walker won his 40th out of 50 MS State Tournaments...

Bill Parker and Johnny Ramia tied for Second
and Third place, Dr. Joseph Fasold 4th and Gary Bankston 5th.
Unfortunately 8 players called and were unable to attend due to
full hotel occupancy caused by "Katrina." Sam Parker was
elected President and Dr. J. Fasold was elected Secretary/Treasurer

Joshua Parkers [an 8 year old who wanted to participate] placed higher
than his Dad and was awarded a trophy as winner of the Minor Division.
This Young man has a drive and burning desire to become a Great Checker Master!
Joshua will be competing for the State Title in his age group in July.
This 'first half' tournament represented the Adult Division of the first ever
MS Official 'Split Tournament' which is a New Beginning for the MS Open.
We experimented last year and had excellent results. By concentrating on the
Youth 106 participated.

The Youth had an excellent time participating in competition with piers in their
age bracket and receiving their Certificate of Achievement and or Participation,
with Ribbons, Gifts & Awards for their Participation. The Youth also enjoyed
a complimentary lunch.

This year...The first Youth age group will compete on July 10 and the other age
groups will compete each day. The oldest age group will end the Youth tournament
on July 13.

Carolyn Lucas will be conducting the Youth and will send a promotional flyer with
pertinent information. Here are the proposed ages and day Youth are to attend.

  Day           Age

        Tue        9,10,11,12

We will appreciate your help in promoting it.

Enthusiastically,

Charles.
